Original home decor inspiration, styling ideas & editorial content

Editorial Policy

Last updated: 4 November 2026.

The Decor Guide (decorideasguide.com) is an independent home decor blog with a simple mission: to help you create a home you love. This Editorial Policy explains who makes our content, how we choose what to feature, and the standards we hold ourselves to. We believe you deserve to know how the advice you read is produced.

Who Creates Our Content

Every article on The Decor Guide is written and researched by Iris Claire, the writer and editor behind the site. Iris is a passionate home decor enthusiast who spends her days styling rooms, hunting down beautiful pieces, and testing ideas in her own home before sharing them with you. There is no faceless content team and no filler — just one person’s genuine experience, taste, and hard work. When we quote experts or feature guest perspectives, we will always say so clearly.

How We Choose What to Feature

We cover the decorating topics our readers ask about and the ideas we are genuinely excited by: room-by-room guides, seasonal styling, small-space solutions, colour inspiration, budget-friendly makeovers, and carefully curated product roundups. Topics are chosen based on reader questions and comments, seasonal relevance, emerging (but lasting) design trends, and Iris’s own decorating projects. We do not cover topics simply because a brand asks us to, and paid placement never influences our editorial calendar.

Research and Curation Standards

Before we publish, we:

  • Research thoroughly. We check product details, measurements, materials, and availability, and we look for genuine customer feedback where it matters.
  • Curate with taste. We sift through far more products and ideas than we publish, featuring only those that meet our bar for design quality, value, and usefulness.
  • Consider different homes and budgets. We aim to include ideas for renters and homeowners, small flats and family houses, and a range of budgets — great style should not require a big spend.
  • Avoid fast-fading fads. We focus on ideas with staying power, and when we do cover a trend, we will tell you honestly how long we think it will last.

Product Recommendations and Integrity

Our recommendations are independent. Products are chosen because we believe in them — not because of affiliate commissions or brand relationships. For more on how we handle commercial relationships, please read our Disclosure. Key principles:

  • We only recommend products we would buy ourselves or suggest to a friend;
  • Affiliate availability never decides whether a product is featured;
  • We disclose gifted products, sponsored content, and affiliate links clearly;
  • Brands cannot pay for positive coverage or for inclusion in our guides.

Photography and Visuals

We create original photography for many of our articles and license additional images responsibly. We never misrepresent a product or a room: photos are not digitally altered to mislead, and where an image is illustrative rather than of the exact product discussed, we say so. Please see our Image Use policy for how our images may be shared.

Corrections Policy

We are human, and occasionally we get something wrong — a product link breaks, a price changes, or a detail slips through. When we spot an error (or you point one out — thank you!), we correct it promptly, and substantive corrections to published articles are noted where appropriate. If you spot a mistake, please email info@decorideasguide.com and we will put it right.

How Often We Update

The Decor Guide is updated regularly with new articles, typically several times a month. We also revisit popular guides — such as seasonal decorating ideas and product roundups — to keep recommendations, links, and prices current. Each article shows its publication date, and significantly updated articles are re-checked before being reshared.
