Beautiful imagery is at the heart of The Decor Guide. This Image Use policy explains who owns the photos and graphics on decorideasguide.com, what you may and may not do with them, and how to request permission or a licence. Who Owns the Images on This Site
Unless stated otherwise, the photographs, graphics, and illustrations published on The Decor Guide are created by or for Iris Claire and are protected by copyright. Some images are licensed from stock libraries or supplied by brands and retailers for editorial use; where this is the case, the image remains the property of its respective owner and is used here under licence. Nothing on this page transfers ownership of any image to you.
What You May Do
We love it when readers share inspiration, so the following personal, non-commercial uses are welcome without asking first:
- Pin our images on Pinterest for your personal mood boards and idea collections, using Pinterest’s own save and share functions;
- Share a link to our articles (rather than the images themselves) on social media, in emails to friends, or on your blog;
- Save images to your own device for personal reference, such as a renovation planning folder.
What You May Not Do
Without our prior written permission, you may not:
- Republish, reproduce, or distribute our images on another website, blog, or publication;
- Use our images in advertising, marketing materials, products for sale, or any other commercial context;
- Edit our images, crop out watermarks or credits, apply filters, or otherwise alter them and present them as your own;
- Submit our images to stock libraries, contests, or third-party platforms;
- Use our images in a way that suggests endorsement of a product, service, or point of view.
Please Don’t Hotlink
Hotlinking — embedding our images on your site by linking directly to the image files on decorideasguide.com — is not permitted. It uses our bandwidth, breaks if we reorganise our files, and gives you no control over the image. If you have permission to use an image, please upload a copy to your own hosting; otherwise, simply link to the article instead.
Attribution Requirements
Where you have our permission to use an image, or where you are sharing within the allowed uses above, please credit us clearly with a visible caption such as “Image via The Decor Guide (decorideasguide.com)” and, online, a link back to the original article. Attribution is appreciated, but it does not replace the need for permission where permission is required.
Pinterest and Social Media Sharing
Pinterest is a wonderful source of decor ideas, and we are delighted when readers pin our content. Please use Pinterest’s built-in pinning tools rather than downloading and re-uploading images, so the pin links back to the original article. On other social platforms, we prefer you share links to our articles rather than reposting the images themselves. If you would like to feature our images in a roundup or social post, please contact us first.
Product and Retailer Images
Some articles include product images supplied by retailers or brands (for example, in shopping guides). These images belong to the respective retailer or brand and are used for editorial purposes only. Our permission does not extend to these images — please contact the retailer or brand directly if you would like to use them.
Requesting Permission and Licensing
We consider most reasonable requests. If you would like to use one of our images beyond the personal uses described above — for example, in a presentation, a classroom, a community newsletter, or a commercial project — please email info@decorideasguide.com with:
- Which image or images you would like to use (a link to the article helps);
- Where and how the image will be used;
- Whether the use is commercial.
We offer licences for commercial and editorial reuse at fair rates. Please allow a few working days for a reply.
Reporting Misuse
If you spot our images being used without permission — or in a way that breaches this policy — we would be grateful if you let us know at info@decorideasguide.com. Please include a link to where you saw the image and, if possible, a screenshot. We take infringement seriously and will take appropriate steps to protect our work.
